Later Rutherfords
In the 1850 US Census for Indiana there are several Rutherfords listed in addition to Elijah. They are John, David, William Hezekiah. It is believed that John anad Sarah Sloan Rutherford are the parents of Elijah. John and Sarah were married in Wayne County Knetucky in 1804. John, David and William are all mentioned in the will of William C. Rutherford dated 1809 in Lincoln County, North Carolina So it would seem that the Rutherford came from North Carolina, spent some time in Kentucky and then in the early 1800s moved to Indiana.,
